4 years ago the Uncle Bob’s Sportif was launched in aid of the BEN and has grown in popularity each year with support from the trade.

Bob Taylor (know affectionately as Uncle Bob) has spent 40 years in the drinks & hospitality industry beginning in 1977 with Lorimer’s Brewery in the east end where he spent 2 years.
On then to Dryburgh sales team with John Gilligan for another 2 years.
Bob then joined Bells whisky as the Glasgow Sales Executive and spent the next 19 years with them.
His work included being Hennessy Cognac promotional manager for 2 years as part of the Diageo Group. At the age of 54 he started his own company The Taylor Agency working with Tennents, Gordon’s Gin, launching such brands as Magners Cider for the next ten years. Over the next 5 years he launched Rekorderlig Cider and many more. He is now working as a consultant for Boe Gin.
He has been a member of the BEN for 20 years and has done various charity work throughout his career including the Perth to Brighton cycling team relay in 1985.
4 years ago the Uncle Bob’s Sportif was launched in aid of the BEN and has grown in popularity each year with support from the trade.
Uncle Bob says “This is a charity bike ride for individuals or teams of two or four who can do 2 x 40 miles of 4 x 20 miles, a fun day out with coffee stops, lunch and a get together in the distillery afterwards, also back up vehicles if you are feeling tired”, for serious cyclists and those who want to have a good time, everyone is welcome"
